Proust's father,
Achille Adrien Proust, was a prominent pathologist and epidemiologist, responsible for studying and attempting to remedy the causes and movements of cholera through Europe and Asia; he was the author of many articles and books on medicine and hygiene, says Wikipedia.
One of his self-help book was entitled Elements of Hygiene and was aimed at teenage girls. Here's one of his recommendations: rather than pretending to be slim and fit through artificial means, Dr Proust proposed a regime of regular exercise and included a number of practical, unstrenuous examples —like, for instance, jumping off walls.

Tomato natzi!

Hypnotized
...by this song. I keep playing this song and it's like a drug already. I feel like dedicating it to "my prince charming" - hope this song will lead us to eachother :). Nevertheless this is for all my friends who have decided to grow-up together ;).

Slagare de vara
Raluk tagged me again. I know she is trying to help my blog move with more talent :P:
“List seven songs you are into right now. It doesn't matter the genre, whether they have lyrics or even if they’re any good, but they must be songs you’re really enjoying this summer. Post these instructions in your blog along with your 7 songs. Then tag 7 other people to see what they’re listening to.”
I couldn't identify tracks on their own but I can list some of the albums I kept playing this summer:
Tiago Bettencourt & Mantha - O Jardim
The Cat Empire - The Cat Empire
Paco de Lucia - Entre dos Aguas
Ismaël Lô - Jammu Africa
PJ Harvey - Stories From The City, Stories From The Sea
John Lee Hooker - The Best of John Lee Hooker
...and probably a life time winner, Manu Chao - Clandestino

Leapsa cu muzica
Got this tag from Raluk. Here are the rules and my answers. Have to admit some of them were quite funny matches. The links for the songs go to related things where I couldn't find the exact ones.
1. Open your Winamp/iTunes or other player you use to listen to your music library and set it on shuffle.
2. Press forward for each question.
3. Use the song title to answer the question, even if it doesn't make sense. DON'T CHEAT!
4. Write in bold the questions and answers, then comment on how the song fits the question, if at all.
5. Pay it forward to five other people.
1. How are you today? YngwieMalmsteen - Freedom Isn't Free Hmmm. What's suppose to mean? All I know at the end of it: wasn't anything peachie about it :(
2. What does the future have in store for you? 4 Strings - One Million Light Years. Nice, I'm immortal!! And even if they would be million regular years they still announce themselves very easy :))
3. How do your friends see you? The Cat Empire - Siente
...The sign's clear but not spoken
This is a troubled land
This is a troubled land
Honey I'm well but the world is a little unwell
Thank you salut but would you help us change and would you help us through?...
Anytime my friend.
4. Will you ever get married? Morcheeba - Undress Me Now Ahahah. This is a good one. Skip marriage, undress me now! Hmmm... not quite my thoughts lately tough :)
5. What's the story of you life? Manu Chao - Trop tot, Trop tard... O que?!
6. What were you like in high school? Chopin - Nocturne no.2 in EB op 9 no 2 I guess it's just for the connoisseurs :P
7. What's the secret to your success? Massive Attack - One Thought At A Time That's a good attitude.
8. What do you like in your friends? Paco de Lucia - Tarantas Exactly my point :)
9. How's the weekend going to be? Tori Amos - Rattlesnakes Rats!
10. What song should they play at your funeral? Cargo - Astazi Si Maine No Comments.
Locul unde zilele
Se-ntalnesc cu noptile
Unde mor si visele
Unde gandul nu mai e
Mergem departe inspre noi
Trecem prin moarte
Ca sa renastem in alt loc
Sa ne cunoastem
Si cand de drum vom obosi
Fi-vom departe
Iubirea-n tine-o vom gasi
Si-om adormi
Locul unde zilele
Se-ntalnesc cu noptile
Unde mor si visele
Unde gandul nu mai e
Unde-i da, nu e nici nu
Unde totul este un cantec
Peste veacuri ce-au trecut
Tot ce-a fost, s-a petrecut
Mergem departe inspre noi
Trecem prin moarte
Ca sa renastem in alt loc
Sa ne cunoastem
Si cand de drum vom obosi
Fi-vom departe
Iubirea-n tine-o vom gasi

11. Will you be happy in life? Nelly Furtado - No Hay Igual I could settle with happy. No need to be unequaled, but I'm sure not looking into relating to others.
12. What do your friends really think about you? Chopin - Balade no.2 in f major, opus 38 Ahahha, another one for the connoisseurs.
13. Are there people who miss you? Feist - The Mast
And I don't need to know your favourite artists name
And I don't need to know what woman's felt the same
And I don't need to see you every single day
And I don't need to know the details of your past
And I don't need to know when you thought of me last
And I would have to say if I'm the sail then you're the mast
And we've caught a good wind, the mast
Aye Aye Captain! ;)
14. How can you make yourself happy? Katie Meula - I Cried For You Yep, that's the idea. I cried and I stopped. Life goes on :)
15. What should you change about your life? Bloodhound Gang - Legend In My Spare Time. Become a legend in my spare time, or stop being one? :-S
And the tag goes to Magda and Laura.

Been around the world
I got from Elena a remixed cumbia which inspired me for a post with my travels around the world. I know I own my friends plenty of posts from that time. The movie shows you pictures from Caribbean - Barbados, St Kitts, US Virgin Islands, Dominican Republic, Guadeloupe, Martinique, Curacao, Columbia, Panama, Panama Canal, Costa Rica and Guatemala.

Be there or be square!
...and what are blogs made for if not for free publicity ...
Next Friday, at Restart together with my school mates we will put together a live broadcast of a DAPUNKSPORTIF concert.
I'm part of the production team and even if we do have specific jobs on this, we are constantly doing our best to help the other "departments" as well.
Therefore here's one of my actions on the promotional side.
DAPUNKSPORTIF _ 22 Fev 22h
AUDITÓRIO RESTART
22 Fevereiro _ 23h
Live at http://videos.sapo.pt/restart/playview/2 _ 23h
“Overdrive” – the first demo of DaPunkSportif – it soon produced good critics which took the band to various contests and on different stages from north to south of Portugal. They had the honor of opening concerts of Xutos e Pontapés on Três Desejos/three wishes tour, that ended at Coliseu dos Recreios. They were also well praised in Spain where they reached the top five finalists in the iberic contest “Yamaha X – Band 2006”. Recentely we had opportunity to watch them setting on fire the stage Quinta dos Portugueses/ Portuguese Farm at Super Bock Super Rock Festival.
"Ready!Set!Go!", produced by DaPunkSportif and Marco Jung is the first album of the band, with the label of Rastilho Editors. The 7 themes (and the video "I Can´t Move" as a bónus) show that we are in the presence of a rock band in its true sense: visceral Rock, muscled and Stoner qb, all supported by a great rhythmic section, a frenetic groove and riffs without temporal limits. They speak about velocity, motor vehicles, unexpected meetings, the need of starting a travel withouth any marked return, the need of living each day of our lifes as if it were the last one.

Va amintiti de Eminescu?
15 of January, one of the greatest Romanian poets was born. I remember, in school, celebrating his birth by writing "grandiose" compositions - texts learned by heart, dictated by others.
Today - answering an invitation of the Romanian Cultural Institute in Lisbon - I had the pleasant surprise to rediscover Eminescu's works and philosophy trough a seminar dedicated to him.
Here's one of his poems La Steaua, Portuguese version:
ATÉ À ESTRELA
Até à estrela que nasceu
Tão longa é a caminhada
Que anos por milhar correu
A luz aqui chegada.
Talvez há muito se extinguiu
Por essa azul lonjura
E o raio apenas reluziu
Aos olhos nesta altura.
A imagem do astro que morreu
No céu lenta se avista:
Era e não se percebeu
Hoje não é e é vista.
De igual maneira, nosso ardor
Quando nas trevas finda,
A luz do apagado amor
Nos acompanha ainda.
Trad. Doina Zugrăvescu
